Course Summary
Although the long-term clinical outcome of marijuana use disorder may be less severe than other commonly used substances, it is by no means a "safe" drug. Sustained marijuana use can have negative impacts on the brain as well as the body so it is important to look at ways to detect the presence of substance use. Screening procedures are designed to detect the possible presence of a substance use disorder and the need for further care. This course will focus on the screening and treatment of marijuana use and addiction using DSM-5 criteria and evidenced-based screening tools and guidelines relied upon to develop a plan for recovery.
