Neuroleptic malignant syndrome is a rare, potentially life-threatening complication that usually appears within a clinical setting such as during antipsychotic therapy. Patients who take neuroleptic medications may exhibit symptoms of physical deterioration, confusion and fever. While this condition is not entirely understood, its symptoms are recognizable and typically easily resolved with little or no long-term impact to the patient when caught early.
