How many hours of CE credit does Texas require for psychologists?
Texas psychologists are required to complete 40 hours of approved continuing education every 2 years.
Can I take my CEs from CE4Less?
Yes! There are no restrictions on the number of hours Texas psychologists can complete through CE4Less –Â all 40 hours may be earned through CE4Less.
All activities used for continuing education credit must be directly related to the practice of psychology. Texas does not pre-approve continuing education providers; however, the state accepts credit from any provider approved by “an international, national, regional, state, or local association medical, mental, or behavioral health professionals.” CE4Less is approved by the American Psychological Association (“APA”) to sponsor continuing education for psychologists.  Texas accepts CE4Less courses for continuing education credit.

What else do I need to know?
Texas psychologist licenses must be renewed every two years by the last day of the licensee’s birth month.
Each renewal cycle, Texas psychologists must complete:
- 6 hours in Ethics (also see our courses in Ethics & Telemental Health and Ethics & Boundary Issues)
- 6 hours in Cultural Competency (see here to choose from all of CE4Less’ cultural competency courses)
Additionally, licensees who provide direct patient care must complete a human trafficking course approved by the state during each renewal period. CE4Less does not currently offer this course, but check back regularly as this course will be added soon.
