How many hours of CE credit does Colorado require for social workers?
Colorado social workers (LISWs, LSWs, RSWs, and LCSWs) are required to complete 40 hours of approved Professional Development Activities (“PDA”) every 2 years.
Can I take my CEs from CE4Less?
Yes! There are no restrictions on the number of hours Colorado social workers can complete through CE4Less – all 40 hours may be earned through CE4Less.
Colorado accepts coursework activities from providers accredited or approved by nationally recognized professional organizations. CE4Less is approved by the Association of State Social Work Boards (“ASWB”), provider #1115, to offer social work continuing education. Colorado accepts our courses as PDAs on an hour-for-hour basis up to the full 40-hour requirement for each renewal cycle. CE4Less courses count as coursework credit. See “What else do I need to know?” below for additional information.
Our Unlimited Plan is a great option for social workers who want to satisfy all their continuing education requirements for one low price! Check out our options here.
What else do I need to know?
Colorado social work licenses must be renewed by August 31st of odd year.
CE4Less courses qualify for the “coursework” designation outlined in Colorado’s Professional Development Activities Chart for social workers.
CE4Less’ courses qualify for coursework credit because CE4Less is approved to offer continuing education for social workers by the ASWB, a nationally recognized professional organization, and all CE4Less courses provide a certificate of completion that meets Colorado’s requirements for “verifiable information issued by the organization that indicates the completion of a course.” The coursework designation allows social workers to take up to the full 40-hour requirement in each renewal cycle.
Colorado does not have specific topic or course requirements that social workers must complete to renew their licenses, meaning that you are free to choose any combination of courses and topics to satisfy your 40-hour requirement. Colorado does, however, require that courses used to satisfy continuing education requirements be related to your area of practice. See below for some popular courses, or check out our Course Library for a full listing of what CE4Less has to offer. Check back often, because our library is constantly expanding!
For more information, please contact the Colorado State Board of Social Work Examiners at (303) 894-7800, see their website (available here) for additional information about your license or renewal requirements, or see Colorado’s Professional Development Activities Chart and Social Work Continuing Professional Development (“CPD”) Program Manual for more information about Colorado’s CPD requirements.
