New Mexico Counselor CE Requirements and Courses Requirements
How many CEs does New Mexico require?
40 hours of continuing education is required every 2 years.
All registered and licensed professionals will be required to submit proof of 40 hours of continuing education which must have been acquired from October 1 of renewal year through September 30 of expiration year, which is a 2-year period.
Can I take my CEs from CE4Less?
Yes! There are no longer requirements on how to get Continuing Education; licensees may obtain them however they would like, including online and home study courses.
What else do I need to know?
All licensees must obtain 12 CE hours of ethics, all of which can be taken from CE4Less. See our full listing of ethics courses here.
Independent licensed professionals who want to provide supervision must apply for the Approved Clinical Supervisor Designation. Application, fee, and proof of 9 required CEs, 3 hours specific to counseling and therapy supervision and 6 specific to ethics in supervision, must be mailed in to the board.
