District of Columbia Social Work CE Requirements

District of Columbia social workers are required to complete 40 hours of approved continuing education every 2 years.

Yes! DC Social Workers may earn 12 hours through CE4Less.

District of Columbia Social Workers must complete 28 contact hours by attending in person or live interactive courses. Check our live options here.

All Washington DC Social Work licenses expire on July 31 of odd years.

Each renewal DC Social Workers must complete:

• 6 hours of Ethics (this MUST be done in-person or Live Interactive Webinar)
• 2 hours of LGBTQ Culture Competency (this can be a homestudy course)
  • Intimate Partner Violence in Culturally Diverse Groups and Special Populations (4 hours)
  • Evidence and Action to Support and Affirm LGBTQI+ Youth E291 (3 hours)
  • Affirmative Counseling for Transgender and Gender Diverse Clients (8 hours)
• 4 hours or at least ten percent (10%) of their required total continuing education in the domains listed as Public Health Priorities:
  1. 1. Sexual and Reproductive Health
     2. Chronic Disease Management
     3. One Health
     4. Healthcare Professional Retention and Capacity Building
     5. Community and Patient Safety
