Mississippi Social Work Courses

Mississippi social workers (LSW, LMSW, and LCSW) are required to complete 40 hours of approved continuing education every 2 years.

Yes! Mississippi social workers can complete up to 20 hours of the total CE requirement during their 2-year licensing period through distance learning courses.

Mississippi accepts courses from any provider approved by the Association of Social Worker Boards (“ASWB”).  CE4Less.com, provider #1115, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the ASWB as an Approved Continuing Education (“ACE”) provider. Mississippi accepts our courses for CE credit.  CE4Less’ courses count as distance learning.

Mississippi social work licenses must be renewed every 2 years by either April 30 (LMSW and LCSW) or by September 30 (LSW).

Each renewal cycle, Mississippi social workers must complete:

• 4 hours in Ethics (CE4Less offers a number of ethics courses that may be used to satisfy this requirement, including Ethics & Boundary Issues and Ethics & Telemental Health)
• 2 hours in Cultural Diversity / Multicultural Issues / Cultural Competency (our course in Intimate Partner Violence in Culturally Diverse Groups and Special Populations satisfies this requirement)
• 1 hour in Mandated Reporting

Continuing education hours completed in the 3 years prior to the current license expiration date may generally be carried over to the following license renewal (see this announcement from the Mississippi Board for full details); however, hours earned to satisfy the required topics above may not be carried over from prior renewal periods.
