Utah Counselor CE Requirements
Clinical Mental Health Counselors (CMHC)s are required to complete 40 hours of approved continuing education directly related to the licensee's professional practice every 2-year licensing period. These 40 hours shall include at least 6 hours in ethics of clinical practice, law or technology and 2 hours in suicide prevention.

How many CEs does Utah require?
The Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing Professional Counseling requires that CMHCs complete 40 hours every 2 years. As noted above, these 40 hours must include at least 6 hours in ethics and 2 hours in suicide prevention.

Can I take my CEs from CE4Less?
Yes, you can use CE4Less to take up to 10 hours of CE each renewal period.
The Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing Professional Counseling allows CMHCs to complete 10 hours of continuing education from online, self-study courses, “distance learning”. The remaining 30 hours must be accrued as part of an in-person course or via live, interactive webinars.
