What else do I need to know?
New Mexico social work licenses (LMSW, LBSW, LCSW, and LISW) must be renewed every 2 years by June 30.
Each renewal cycle, all New Mexico social workers are required to complete 6 hours in cultural awareness. CE4Less offers a three-course series in Culture and the Psychosocial Implications of Socioeconomic Position that satisfies this requirement. Hours earned beyond the 6-hour requirement may be applied to the overall requirement. A full listing of CE4Less’ cultural competency courses is available here.
Licensees who supervise LMSWs are required to complete 3 hours in administration. To qualify, the course used must be submitted for approval prior to completion.
For more information, please contact the New Mexico Board of Social Work Examiners at (505) 476-4622, see their website (available here) for additional information about your license or renewal requirements, or see New Mexico’s rules and regulations relating to social work licensure and continuing education.
