Pennsylvania Marriage and Family Therapist CE Requirements and Courses

Pennsylvania marriage and family therapists are required to complete 30 hours of approved continuing education every 2 years.

Yes! There are no restrictions on the number of hours Pennsylvania MFT’s can complete through CE4Less – all 30 hours may be earned through CE4Less.

CE4Less is approved by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB), American Psychological Association (APA), and the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) for continuing education.

Pennsylvania MFT’s must be renewed by February 28th, each odd year.

Each renewal period Pennsylvania MFT’s (regardless of license type) must complete:

• 3 hours in Ethics (CE4Less offers a number of ethics courses that may be used to satisfy this requirement, including Ethics & Boundary Issues and Ethics & Telemental Health)
• 1 hour in Suicide Prevention

For each renewal Pennsylvania MFT’s must complete 2 hours (3 for initial licensure) in child abuse recognition and reporting. A free course is offered by the University of Pittsburgh’s Child Welfare Resource Center that can be accessed at https://www.reportabusepa.pitt.edu/
