Kentucky Requirements for Social Work License Renewal
Kentucky LCSWs and CSWs are required to complete 30 hours of approved continuing education every three years. Kentucky LSWs are required to complete 15 hours of approved continuing education every three years. How many hours of CE credit does Kentucky require for social workers?
Kentucky LCSWs and CSWs are required to complete 30 hours of approved continuing education every 3 years.
Kentucky LSWs are required to complete 15 hours of approved continuing education every 3 years.
Can I take my CEs from CE4Less?

Kentucky LCSWs and CSWs can complete up to 27 hours of the total CE requirement during their 3-year licensing period through home study or online courses.
Kentucky LSWs can complete up to 12 hours of the total CE requirement during their 3-year licensing period through home study or online courses.
Kentucky accepts courses from any provider approved by the Association of State Social Worker Boards (“ASWB”). CE4Less, provider #1115, is approved by the ASWB to offer social work continuing education. Kentucky accepts our courses for CE credit. CE4Less’ courses count as home study or online.

What else do I need to know?
Kentucky social work licenses (LCSW, CSW, and LSW) must be renewed every 3 years from the date they were initially issued.
During the three (3) year renwal period following initial licensure, as part of the required continuing education hours, each licensee shall complete a three (3) hour course in domestic violence, and elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation s defined by KRS 194A.540.
CE4Less offers courses: Intimate Partner Violence: Evidence Based Interventions and Mandatory Abuse Reporting that combined, satisfy this requirement, as well as a number of other domestic violence courses that may be used (see here for a full listing).
Each renewal period, all Kentucky social workers must complete 3 hours in ethics. Kentucky requires an ethics course approved by the state that is specific to the Kentucky Code of Ethical Conduct as established in KAR 23:080. CE4Less is in the process of developing this course, but it is not yet available.
Every 6 years, all Kentucky social workers must complete 6 hours board approved training in suicide prevention, assessment, treatment, and management. CE4Less does not yet have an approved course available to meet this requirement
Every 6 years, LCSWs and LSWs must complete 1.5 hours in pediatric abusive head trauma. CE4Less offers a course that satisfies this requirement – available here.
