How many CEs does Vermont require?
Vermont’s CE requirements for social workers vary based on the type of license held:
- LICSWs are required to complete 20 hours of approved continuing education every 2 years
- LMSWs are required to complete 10 hours of approved continuing education every 2 years
Can I take my CEs from CE4Less?
Vermont LICSWs can complete up to 5 hours of the total CE requirement during their 2-year licensing period through informal education activities, including CE4Less courses.
Unfortunately, Vermont LMSWs are required to complete all of their CE requirement through in-person, formal education activities. CE4Less courses do not meet this requirement.
Vermont accepts courses from any provider approved by the Association of Social Worker Boards (“ASWB”). CE4Less, provider #1115, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the ASWB as an Approved Continuing Education (“ACE”) provider. See our Accreditations page for additional details.
Vermont accepts our courses for CE credit. CE4Less’ courses count as informal education activities.
What else do I need to know?
Vermont social work licenses (LICSW and LMSW) must be renewed by January 31 of each even year.
Each renewal cycle, Vermont social workers (regardless of license type) must complete 1.5 hours in Ethics, including such issues as boundaries, confidentiality, and dual relationships. CE4Less offers a number of ethics courses that may be used to satisfy this requirement, including Ethics & Boundary Issues and Ethics & Telemental Health.
For more information, please contact the Vermont Office of Professional Regulation at (802) 828-1505, see their website (available here) for additional information about your license or renewal requirements, or see Vermont’s rules and regulations relating to social work licensure and continuing education.
