District of Columbia Marriage and Family Therapist CE Requirements
How many hours of CE credit does the District of Columbia require for social workers?
Washington D.C. social workers are required to complete 40 hours of approved continuing education every 2 years.
Can I take my CE from CE4Less?
Yes! Washington D.C. social workers can complete up to 12 hours of the total CE requirement during their 2-year licensing period through independent study courses.
Washington D.C. accepts courses from any provider approved by the Association of Social Worker Boards (“ASWB”). CE4Less.com, provider #1115, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the ASWB as an Approved Continuing Education (“ACE”) provider. See our Accreditations page for additional details.
Washington D.C. accepts CE4Less courses for credit. CE4Less courses count as independent study.
Our Unlimited Plan is a great option for social workers who want to satisfy their independent study-eligible continuing education requirements for one low price! Check out our options here.
What else do I need to know?
Washington D.C. social work licenses must be renewed by July 31 of each odd year.
Each renewal cycle, Washington D.C. social workers must complete:
- 6 hours in Ethics (unfortunately, Washington D.C. requires that this requirement be fulfilled in a face-to-face setting, and CE4Less cannot meet that requirement)
- 2 hours in LGBTQ Training
- 4 hours in Public Health Priorities (defined by Washington D.C. on a rolling basis – see here for additional information)
- 2 hours in COVID-19 Vaccines (see here for additional information)
For more information, please contact the DC Health Department of Social Work Licensing at (877) 672-2174, see their website (available here) for additional information about your license or renewal requirements, or see Washington D.C.’s rules and regulations relating to social work licensure and continuing education.
