How many CEs does Maryland require?
Maryland Counselors are required to complete 40 hours of approved continuing education every 2 years.
Can I take my CEs from CE4Less?
Yes! Maryland Counselors may earn 10 hours (Category B) through CE4Less.
CE4Less is approved by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) and NAADAC to provide continuing education.

What else do I need to know?
Maryland Counselor licenses must be renewed every two years by January 31st.
Each renewal Counselors are required to complete a one-time course of Implicit Bias and Structural Racism CEU (effective 10/01/2025 – one-time requirement).
