How many CEs does Pennsylvania require?
Pennsylvania social workers (SW, BSW, and CSW) are required to complete 30 hours of approved continuing education every 2 years.
Can I take my CEs from CE4Less?
Yes! Pennsylvania social workers can complete up to 20 hours of the total CE requirement during their 2-year licensing period through home study courses.
Pennsylvania accepts courses from any provider approved by the Association of Social Worker Boards (“ASWB”). CE4Less.com, provider #1115, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the ASWB as an Approved Continuing Education (“ACE”) provider. What else do I need to know?
Pennsylvania social work licenses (SW, BSW, and CSW) must be renewed every 2 years by the last day of the month in which they were initially issued.
Each renewal period, Pennsylvania social workers (regardless of license type) must complete:
- 3 hours in Ethics (CE4Less offers a number of ethics courses that may be used to satisfy this requirement, including Ethics & Boundary Issues and Ethics & Telemental Health)
- 2 hours (3 for initial licensure) in approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting CE4Less does not offer a Pennsylvania approved course. Take the PA approved course for free from: https://www.reportabusepa.pitt.edu/
- 1 hour in Suicide Prevention
Continuing education hours earned in these topics in excess of the requirements above may be applied towards the total CE requirement.
