Missouri Social Work CE Requirements
How many hours of CE credit does Missouri require for social workers?
Missouri social workers (LAMSW, LMSW, LCSW, and LBSW) are required to complete 30 hours of approved continuing education every 2 years.
Can I take my CE from CE4Less?
Yes! There are no restrictions on the number of hours Missouri social workers can complete through CE4Less for renewals in 2023 and 2024 – all 30 hours may be earned through CE4Less.
Missouri accepts courses from any provider approved by the Association of Social Worker Boards (“ASWB”). CE4Less.com, provider #1115, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the ASWB as an Approved Continuing Education (“ACE”) provider. See our Accreditations page for additional details.

What else do I need to know?
Missouri social work licenses (LAMSW, LMSW, LCSW, and LBSW) must be renewed by every 2 years by September 30.
Each renewal period, Missouri social workers must complete:
- 3 hours in Ethics (CE4Less offers a number of ethics courses that may be used to satisfy this requirement, including Ethics & Boundary Issues and Ethics & Telemental Health)
- 2 hours in Suicide Assessment, and
- 3 hours in Diversity & Inclusion
The Missouri State Committee for Social Workers voted that for the 2023 and 2024 renewal periods, the 15-hour limit on satisfying renewal requirements through correspondence courses has been waived. All licensees may earn up to the total 30 hours through correspondence courses for their 2023 or 2024 renewal. Hour limits for other categories (e.g., publications) remain unchanged. Licensees are still required to complete their required hours, and the requirements above (both topics and hours requirements) remain unchanged. See the Missouri Division of Professional Registration’s Committee for Social Workers site here for more information.
For more information, please contact the Missouri Division of Professional Registration’s Committee for Social Workers at (575) 751-0885, see their website (available here) for additional information about your license or renewal requirements, or see Missouri’s rules and regulations relating to social work licensure and continuing education.
