Georgia Social Work CE Requirements
How many hours of CE credit does Georgia require for social workers?
Georgia social workers (LMSW and LCSW) are required to complete 35 hours of approved continuing education every 2 years.
Can I take my CE from CE4Less?
Yes! Georgia social workers can complete up to 10 hours of the total CE requirement during their 2-year licensing period through online courses.
Georgia accepts courses from any provider approved by the Association of State Social Worker Boards (“ASWB”). CE4Less, provider #1115, is approved by the ASWB to offer social work continuing education. Georgia accepts our courses for CE credit. CE4Less’ courses count as online (asynchronous) courses.
Our Unlimited Plan is a great option for social workers who want to satisfy their online-eligible continuing education requirements for one low price! Check out our options here.
What else do I need to know?
Georgia social work licenses must be renewed by September 30th of each even year.
Each renewal period, Georgia social workers (LMSW and LCSW) must complete 5 hours in professional ethics education. Unfortunately, Georgia requires that this ethics requirement be completed in a “live” setting.
For the remaining 30 hours, 15 hours must be “core.” Georgia defines “core” hours as, “continuing education hours acquired in activities in the specialty in which the the license is held.” The final 15 hours may be “related,” meaning that they may be continuing education hours acquired in a specialty other than the one the license is held, including allied professions like psychiatry, psychiatric nursing, or psychology.
CE4Less offers an expansive library of content in both “core” and “related” areas for Georgia social workers. Check out our Course Library and select the courses that best fit your particular interests and practice areas!
For more information, please contact the Georgia Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage & Family Therapists at (404) 424-9966, see their website (available here) for additional information about your license or renewal requirements, or see Georgia’s rules and regulations relating to social work licensure and continuing education.
