Missouri Social Work CE Requirements

Missouri Social Workers (LAMSW, LMSW, LCSW, and LBSW) are required to complete 30 hours of approved continuing education every 2 years.

Yes! There are no restrictions on the number of hours Missouri Social Workers can complete through CE4Less – all 30 hours may be earned through CE4Less.

Missouri social work licenses (LAMSW, LMSW, LCSW, and LBSW) must be renewed every 2 years by licensure date.

Each renewal period, Missouri social workers must complete:

• 3 hours in Ethics (CE4Less offers a number of ethics courses that may be used to satisfy this requirement, including Ethics & Boundary Issues and Ethics & Telemental Health)
• 2 hours in Suicide Assessment
• 3 hours in Diversity & Inclusion
  • Intimate Partner Violence in Culturally Diverse Groups and Special Populations (4 hours)
  • Implicit Bias: Awareness and Management for Mental Health Professionals (3 hours)
  • Affirmative Counseling for Transgender and Gender Diverse Clients (8 hours)

2024 and 2025 Renewal Cycle Information
The State Committee for Social Workers voted that for the above renewal period(s), the 15-hour limit of correspondence courses have been waived. All licensees will still be required to do the required hours of continuing professional education, but these hours can be any combination of live programs, webinars and correspondence courses and other approved methods. Other hourly limits for credits for publications, etc. remain in place.
