How many hours of CE credit does Kansas require for social workers?
Kansas social workers (LSCSW, LMSW, LBSW, and LASW) are required to complete 40 hours of approved continuing education every 2 years.
Can I take my CEs from CE4Less?
Yes! There are no restrictions on the number of hours Kansas social workers can complete through CE4Less – all 40 hours may be earned through CE4Less.
CE4Less’ courses meet the requirements set forth by the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board in KAR 102-2-4a. As all CE4Less courses require a posttest, all 40 hours required for renewal may be earned through CE4Less. Additionally, CE4Less, provider #1115, is approved by the ASWB to offer social work continuing education. Kansas accepts our courses for CE credit.

What else do I need to know?
Kansas social work licenses (LSCSW, LMSW, LBSW, and LASW) must be renewed by every 2 years by the last day of the month they were initially issued.
Kansas social workers must complete at least 3 hours in ethics education during each 2-year licensing period. CE4Less offers a number of ethics courses that may be used to satisfy this requirement, including our Ethics & Boundary Issues and Ethics & Telemental Health courses. A full listing of our available ethics courses is available here.
LMSWs and LSCSWs must also complete 6 hours in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders. (NOTE: This requirement will change to 3 hours on 7/1/2025.) This can be satisfied with certain individual or a combination of the courses, including:
- Gambling Disorder: Ethics and Treatment (4 hour course)
- DSM-5-TR: A Comprehensive Overview (3 hour course)
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Eating Disorders (3 hour course)
- Clinical Management of Depressive Symptoms in the Context of Substance Use (3 hour course)
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorders: Elements, History, Treatment, and Research (14 hour course)
- Suicide Assessment Treatment & Management (6 hour course)
- Cultural Clinical Psychology and PTSDÂ (10 hour course)
