South Dakota Psychologist CE Requirements

South Dakota psychologists are required to complete 15 hours of approved continuing education per year.

Yes! There are no restrictions on the number of hours South Dakota psychologists can complete through CE4Less – all 15 hours may be earned through CE4Less.

South Dakota’s continuing education requirements are relatively new and do not specifically define which activities may be used to satisfy continuing education requirements.  Effective June 30, 2021, any activity that either (i) “improves of maintains the licensee’s professional skills” or (ii) “broadens or refreshes the licensee’s knowledge of governing laws, rules, or ethical standards” may be used.

CE4Less is approved by the American Psychological Association (“APA”) to sponsor continuing education for psychologists, and all CE4Less courses are written by leading academics and practitioners from across the United States and Canada to improve and maintain psychologists’ professional skills.  South Dakota accepts CE4Less courses for continuing education credit.

South Dakota psychologist licenses must be renewed by June 30th of each year.

South Dakota does not have any specific topics or courses that must be completed during a renewal cycle, so psychologists are free to choose any combination of courses to satisfy their requirements.
