How many hours of CE credit does Alabama require for social workers?
Alabama social workers (all licenses) are required to complete 30 hours of approved continuing education every 2 years.
Can I take my CEs from CE4Less?

What else do I need to know?
Alabama social work licenses must be renewed every two years by the last day of their month of issuance.
Required / Encouraged Courses:
- All licensees are required to complete 3 hours in Ethics education
- LMSWs with clinical designation must complete 3 hours in clinical content.
- LICSWs must complete 6 hours in clinical content, 3 hours of which must be a comprehensive review of the current version of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM). DSM-5-TR: A Comprehensive Overview meets the 3-hour requirement for this specific content. This requirement is for renewals beginning January 1, 2024.
- Additionally, all licensees are encouraged (though not required) to complete a 1-time, 1-hour course in Child Abuse & Neglect education aimed at mandatory reporters
- Supervisors are required to complete 3 hours in Supervision
