Minnesota Marriage and Family Therapist CE Requirements and Courses

Minnesota MFTs are required to complete 40 hours of continuing education every 2 years.

Yes! Minnesota MFTs can complete all 40 hours through CE4Less. (Note: The Minnesota Board of Marriage and Family Therapy requires that licensees apply individually for approval of these continuing education activities. This can be done here.)

Minnesota MFTs are required to complete 40 hours of continuing education every 2 years by December 31st on odd years.

Each renewal period Minnesota MFTs must complete:

• 3 hours of Ethics (See our courses in Ethics & Telemental Health and Ethics Boundary Issues)
• 4 hours of Cultural Competency

Cultural Competency CE Requirement:

• (1) increasing the knowledge, understanding, self-awareness, and practice skills that enable a marriage and family therapist to serve clients from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. Topics include but are not limited to:
• (2) understanding culture, its functions, and strengths that exist in varied cultures;
• (3) understanding clients’ cultures and differences among and between cultural groups;
• (4) understanding the nature of social diversity and oppression; and
• (5) understanding cultural humility.
• 4 hours of Supervision (for those holding the MN LMFT Board-Approved Supervisor status)
