How many CEs does Montana require?
Montana Counselors are required to complete 20 hours of approved continuing education annually.
Can I take my CEs from CE4Less?
Yes! There are no restrictions on the number of hours Montana Counselors can complete through CE4Less – all 20 hours may be earned through CE4Less.
CE4Less is approved by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB), American Psychological Association (APA), the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) and NAADAC for continuing education.

What else do I need to know?
Montana Counselor licenses must be renewed annually by December 31st.
Montana Counselors must complete 2 hours of suicide prevention (for the first renewal and every two years thereafter)
The Montana Board of Behavioral Health no longer approves sponsors or courses. Licensees must choose CE that meets the professional education objectives established in the CE requirements.
20 Hours Required each licensing period.
If a licensee completes more than 20 hours of CE, excess hours in an amount not to exceed 20 hours may be carried forward to the next year.
