Alaska Social Work CE Requirements

Alaska social workers (LBSW, LCSW, LMSW) are required to complete 45 hours of approved continuing education every 2 years.

Yes! Alaska Social Workers can complete 35 hours may be earned through CE4Less.

CE4Less is an approved provider of continuing education by the Association of State Social Work Boards (ASWB). Alaska social workers can earn no more than 12 home study credits per day.

Alaska Social Workers must complete at least 10 contact hours by attending live, live online, or synchronous courses. Check our live options here.

Alaska social work licenses must be renewed by June 30th of each even year.

Each renewal, Alaska social workers (LBSW, LCSW, LMSW) must complete:

• 3 hours in Ethics
• 6 hours in Substance Abuse
• 6 hours in Cross-Cultural Education (including 3 hours related to Alaska Natives)
  • Intimate Partner Violence in Culturally Diverse Groups and Special Populations (4 hours)
  • Implicit Bias: Awareness and Management for Mental Health Professionals (3 hours)
  • Affirmative Counseling for Transgender and Gender Diverse Clients (8 hours)
• 3 hours in Teletherapy Practice
  • Telemental Health Practice (5 hours)
  • Ethics and Telemental Health (3 hours)
  • Telehealth for the Treatment of Serious Mental Illness and Substance Use Disorders (3 hours)
• 3 hours of Suicide Prevention
