Self-Care Tips From Mental Health Professionals: Insights From Our Instagram Community
Self-Care Tips From Mental Health Professionals: Insights From Our Instagram Community
Self-care gets talked about a lot in mental health spaces, but itโs one of those things that looks different for everyone. For some of us itโs moving our bodies, for others itโs saying no, and for a lot of people itโs just getting a moment of quiet without taking care of someone else.
Recently on Instagram, we ran an Amazon gift card giveaway and asked followers to enter by sharing their favorite self-care tips. We honestly didnโt expect so many thoughtful responses, and we loved reading through them. Here are a few that stuck with us:
Movement as Medicine
Walking, yoga, stretching, and spontaneous dance breaks all came up โ a reminder that moving the body is one of the quickest levers we can pull for mood, energy, and stress.

Nervous System Care & Grace
Self-care isnโt always about doing more; sometimes itโs about gentleness and permission. One community member wrote, โMy self-care tip would be to remember to give yourself grace. We give others the benefit of the doubt all the time but forget about ourselves.โ
Another shared, โAs a mom of twins, self-care means appreciating small moments โ a quiet coffee, a short walk, or a deep breath. These little things help me recharge and take better care of everyone around me.โ
Encouragement & Self-Talk
We saw uplifting reminders that self-care can be about how we speak to ourselves. As one person said, โAlways remember you can do it! Even if itโs a fleeting thought in your head or others laugh โ you can do it!โ
Boundaries (AKA Self-Careโs Unsung Hero)
Several responses highlighted boundaries as essential for well-being. One follower shared, โMy self-care tip is setting clear boundaries between work and personal time.โ
And another put it bluntly โ and perfectly โ โLearn to say โnoโ without feeling guilty.โ
Small Moments, Big Impact
Tiny rituals โ from skincare routines to morning coffee to stepping outside for a breath of fresh air โ came up again and again as sustainable ways to reset.
โHelping professionals often put themselves last, even though sustainability and well-being are part of the work.โ
Going through these made us think about how often helping professionals put themselves last, even though sustainability and well-being are part of the work.
And because self-care isnโt just about bubble baths or nights off, we also believe staying supported professionally matters. At CE4Less, we try to make continuing education affordable and accessible so clinicians can keep growing without burning out.
